Allison West, PhD, MSW
Allison West, PhD, MSW, is an Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Director of the HARC. Dr. West has over 20 years of experience implementing and evaluating services for children and families. Her current research focuses on implementation of early childhood services, with emphasis on home visiting, workforce development, and systems building. Dr. West collaborates extensively with local, state, and federal partners to conduct applied home visiting research that is timely and relevant. She serves as principal investigator for the federal Supporting and Strengthening the Home Visiting Workforce project and collaborates on several projects that aim to develop, test, or strengthen interventions for parents affected by substance use and parents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Her work incorporates qualitative, quantitative, and community-engaged methods to assess implementation, test effects of interventions and enhancements on outcomes, and deepen understanding of causal pathways. As HARC’s director, her roles include maximizing the R&D Platform’s influence on advancing the field through innovative research and development of the next generation of early childhood researchers through shared decision-making by diverse stakeholders.
