Equalizing the Playing Field: Home Visiting’s Role in Linking Families to Economic Supports Link copied to clipboard
Using a mixed methods approach, this study examined home visitors’ familiarity with the American Rescue Plan (ARP) and other economic benefits available to families and their experience in assisting program participants to access these benefits. Study findings included, 1) that families enrolled in home visiting programs face significant economic stress; 2) home visitors report that families face significant barriers in accessing ARP benefits and supports; 3) home visitors’ level of understanding and knowledge of the ARP varied widely; and 4) home visitors place high priority on discussing economic benefits with families and believe it makes a difference.
