Deborah Daro, PhD, MCP

Deborah Daro, PhD, MCP, is a Senior Research Fellow at Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago. She has over 40 years of experience in evaluating child abuse treatment and prevention programs. Dr. Daro’s work informs strategies that embed individualized, targeted prevention efforts within more universal efforts to alter normative standards and community context. Her research focuses on child welfare reform and public policy, developing universal systems of support for new parents, and creating community partnerships to protect children. Additionally, she is committed to advancing young scholars and promoting greater diversity among those examining child well-being and family support. Dr. Daro developed and chaired the Doris Duke Fellowships for the Promotion of Child Well-Being, a national network of 120 young scholars representing multiple disciplines and research interests. As part of HARC’s Leadership Team, Dr. Daro directs efforts to identify emerging practices and contextual challenges and translate them into learning opportunities for the field.
