In Memory of Deb Daro

HARC is deeply saddened to share the passing of Deborah Daro, Senior Research Fellow Emeritus at Chapin Hall and a cherished member of the HARC community.
Deb served on the HARC Leadership Team from 2017 until her death in 2025. During that time, she drew on her deep expertise and extensive connections in the home visiting field to strengthen HARC’s work and to serve as one of its most dedicated advocates. Her contributions included fostering collaboration across evidence-based models, identifying both emerging and enduring issues in the field, and establishing a program to support early career researchers.
Deb’s wise and reflective nature made her a favorite to deliver the closing address at many HARC annual meetings. Beyond her work with HARC, Deb was recognized nationally as a leading expert in child abuse prevention policy and as a passionate champion for reforms that strengthen early childhood systems to better support families.
To her HARC colleagues, Deb was not only a trusted mentor but also a treasured friend. Her impact on the field, and on those who had the privilege of working alongside her, will be long lasting. She will be deeply missed.
